General Larry Platt Wows “The View” Audience

General Larry Platt made his appearance on The View today and wowed the audience and The View ladies with his spectacular dance moves and his now famous song, Pants on the Ground. The View audience got to see an extended version compared to what was seen on American Idol and I have to say that Larry Platt looked very dapper in his vest and pants.

General Larry Platt Tries to Save Lives

troydavisBy now you surely know that General Larry Platt isn’t just some crazy dude that figured it would be a lark to try out for American Idol – he’s so much more than that, isn’t he?  Well, one of the things he does is try to save lives.  If you look at any of the videos of Larry Platt singing Pants on the Ground for the American Idol judges you’ll notice that he was wearing a few pins on his shirt.

One of them was a picture of a man named Troy Davis who is on Death Row in Georgia and General Larry Platt is one of many that is fighting to save his life.

Lyrics to Pants on The Ground

If you’re going to sing Pants on the Ground – that crazy song General Larry Platt sang on American Idol – make sure you know the lyrics!

Pants on the ground
Pants on the ground
Lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground

With the gold in your mouth
Hat turned sideways
Pants hit the ground
Call yourself a cool cat
Lookin’ like a fool
Walkin’ downtown with your pants on the ground

Get it up, hey!
Get your pants off the ground
Lookin’ like a fool
Walkin’ talkin’ with your pants on the ground.

Get it up, hey!
Get your pants off the ground
Lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground
(Repeat second verse)

USA Today Takes a Closer Look at Larry Platt

So, I know y’all loved the Pants on the Ground song as performed by General Larry Platt on American Idol last night but you should take a closer look at this guy.  He’s actually pretty cool.  I saw someone on Twitter call him a crackhead but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.  Larry Platt was a big part of the Civil Rights Movement, worked with Martin Luther King, and is active in fighting for people’s rights.  He’s pretty big in Atlanta actually and even has his own day!

Last night USA actually put up one of the first closer look articles on Larry Platt.

Check out the article here.

As USA Today says,

When he tells you to get your pants off the ground, you’d best listen.

Larry Platt Day

Larry Platt isn’t just an American Idol phenomenon.  He’s been making a difference in people’s lives for a long time.  In fact,  he has a day named after him.  In Atlanta, September 4th has been known as Larry Platt Day since 2001.  The honor was bestowed on him by the House of Representatives for

his great energy and commitment to equality and the protection of the innocent and for his outstanding service to the Atlanta community and the citizens of Georgia.
